Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) Works
Design • Delivery • Compliance — from our Mere-side Shropshire and Southampton bases, delivered nationwide.
BNG is now a standard planning requirement in England. We help developers, contractors and estates meet (and evidence) their 10% biodiversity net gain through practical, buildable measures on site — and secure, long-term management.
What we deliver
Feasibility & baseline (with partner ecologists)
UKHab baseline mapping, Statutory Biodiversity Metric calculations, and clear options to reach 10%+.
Biodiversity Gain Plan (BGP) support
Evidence packs, drawings and quantities for submission, plus responses to LPA queries.
On-site habitat creation & enhancement
Wildflower meadows, native tree & shrub planting, orchards, hedgerows, ponds/scrapes, SuDS with biodiversity features, deadwood/bug habitat, bird & bat boxes.
Protection & access works
Stock/deer fencing, exclusion zones, signage, low-spill lighting, pathways/boardwalks, small bridges and handrails.
30-year management & monitoring
HMMPs (Habitat Management & Monitoring Plans), scheduled visits, remediation actions, and reporting aligned to planning obligations.
Off-site units (if required)
Sourcing and documenting off-site BNG units via reputable habitat banks; statutory credits only as a last resort.
How it works (simple process)
Scope & baseline — we walk the site with our ecologist partners, confirm UKHab baseline and target uplift.
Design & cost — drawings, methods and a priced schedule to achieve 10%+ on site where possible.
Secure the gain — support your Biodiversity Gain Plan and the legal route (planning obligation or conservation covenant).
Build & establish — our crews deliver planting, water features, fencing, protection, access and interpretation.
Manage for 30 years — we implement the HMMP, monitor condition and report back at agreed intervals.
Why choose us
- End-to-end delivery — practical design, install and long-term upkeep; not just a report.
- Engineering + ecology — fabrication/groundworks in-house with specialist ecologists for the metric and sign-off.
- Buildable details — SuDS features, steps/handrails, small bridges and habitat fencing self-performed.
- National coverage — rapid mobilisation from Shropshire and Southampton.
- Clear evidence — metric outputs, photos and maintenance logs your LPA will accept.
- Specialist plant & implements — compact tractors and telehandlers on LPG/LGP (low-ground-pressure) tyres; stone burier for clean seedbeds; seed chariots/precision seeders for even establishment.
- Water quality measures — anti-nutrient treatments (e.g., phosphorus-binding media) specified and installed where required to curb eutrophication.
- Edge & marine solutions — bullrush gabion baskets for soft revetment and bank stabilisation in riparian/marine edges.
- Live stock — seeded acorns (stratified) and native whips held in stock for fast starts and replacements.
