Short, dry examples of inspection-led remedial, perimeter and controlled-access work in live environments.

Wrexham Council gritter yard – controlled access and perimeter works

Environment: Live council depot / gritter yard requiring controlled vehicle and pedestrian access.

Problem: Site required a robust controlled-access arrangement including a wide opening gate, isolated return and personnel gate suitable for a working depot environment.

Constraint: Live operational yard, vehicle movements, security requirement, heavy-duty use and the need to integrate access hardware into a durable perimeter system.

Action: Installed a 9m opening width gate, isolated return, personnel gate and associated perimeter fencing system for controlled depot access.

Output: Access route upgraded to a more secure, durable and controllable perimeter arrangement suited to council operational use.

Pub cellar structural remedial

Environment: Live pub cellar and keg storage area.

Problem: Localised beam-end corrosion and deterioration in a low-level service area with pump pipework, overhead services and live cellar use.

Constraint: Full steel replacement was not practical without major disruption to supply lines and cellar operations. Wash-down conditions also create standing water risk around the base of supports.

Action: Deteriorated support sections were removed and replaced with galvanised pipe columns rather than a full intrusive steel replacement.

Output: Structural support restored with a more durable section choice for the environment and reduced risk of future water trapping and puddling during wash-down.

Standing seam roof TIG remedial

Environment: Live airport roof environment on painted aluminium standing seam system during solar-related roof modifications.

Problem: Roof penetrations and local detail changes required on thin-gauge standing seam roof panels without compromising surrounding sheet integrity.

Constraint: Live operational environment, painted finished surface, thin-gauge aluminium, roof access restrictions, and the need to control heat input, distortion and finish quality on site.

Action: Carried out on-site TIG welding to painted aluminium standing seam roof sheets and local penetration details to support controlled solar-related modifications.

Output: Roof detail completed in situ with controlled heat input, maintained seam continuity and a finished remedial suited to a live operational roof environment.

Controlled access security gate

Environment: External service corridor requiring restricted pedestrian access between occupied buildings.

Problem: Access route required secure control, durable hardware and managed entry without reliance on a conventional mains-powered access arrangement.

Constraint: Narrow passage, frequent use, security requirement and the need for reliable standalone coded access with robust perimeter separation.

Action: Installed a secure mesh access gate with coded entry, panic hardware and off-grid access control suited to the restricted corridor environment.

Output: Access route upgraded to a more secure, durable and controllable entry point with standalone coded access and robust perimeter control.
